Our Story

Starting with just a few rafts in 1981, Deschutes River Adventures began renting out boats for day trips along the whitewater stretch of the Lower Deschutes River in beautiful Maupin, Oregon. Whitewater rafting was an exciting new sport and DRA was the pioneer rafting company to get in on the action. The outfit saw success and soon expanded with more rafts and multi-day rentals so folks could raft and camp along 100 miles of the Wild and Scenic river. Guided trips came a few years later and DRA quickly mastered the logistics and hospitality of guided day and overnight river trips.

With quality gear, knowledgeable guides, and decades of experience, Deschutes River Adventures offers excellent river trips. Whether it be hands off, do-it-yourself rental rafts or a fully pampered guide service with delicious steak dinners along the river bank, DRA has the gear and trip that you're looking for.

We are professional, passionate and excited to provide life-long memories for your family!

meet our team

Andy & Kate

Kate and Andy have been rafting around the Pacific Northwest all their lives. They met while working as guides on the Deschutes in 2010 and got married on it 5 years later. When not in Maupin, you can find them skiing Mt. Hood, rafting rivers all over the PNW, enjoying a tasty Oregon beer, and roadtripping with their pups to their next adventure.

Lacey is the best border collie ever! She likes to raft, chase sticks, hike, chase balls, ski, chase pinecones and greet you when you arrive here at the shop. Lacey knows her way around Maupin pretty well. When she's hungry, she takes herself to the gas station for a treat.

Wylie is the newest member of our rafting family. After chewing on balls, sticks or feet he likes to bark at objects that are not even there.  When Lacey is not mentoring him on the ins and outs of rafting you can find him napping in the office under a desk.
